What’s a web doc?

A web doc, also called a web documentary or interactive documentary, is basically a documentary conceived for the web. Usually there will be some possibilities for interaction. Interaction can be very simple or very complex, depending on the story, the budgets available and the ambitions of the producers. Several people have asked us for some examples, so here are a few suggestions.

DOCUBASE.MIT.EDU is a curated collection of web docs from MIT.

NFB.CA the National Film Board of Canada, a large and varied collection of first grade original works.

UPIAN.COM one of the leading independent producers of web docs based in Paris.

FIRESTORM, made by the Guardian newspaper, about the bush fires of Dunalley, Tasmania, in 2013.
